BURARI CASE SUMMARY

The terrible Burari deaths case occurred in 2018, when 11 family members in Burari, Delhi, committed themselves. Many claim that it is an instance of mass suicide. Although there isn't much information available concerning the case, much of it is unreliable or irrational, as has frequently been shown by broadcast media. The Chundawats, also known as the Bhatia family, were a middle-class family like any other up until a death in 2007. They were settled and concentrated on a brighter future. Although many people who saw the family from the outside believed they had found solace in spirituality, no one is left to explain what took on within the Burari home's four walls. When the Bhatia family (originally Chundawat), who owned a grocery store, didn't open it in the morning on July 1 (when it typically opened at 5:30 am), didn't collect milk from the daily milkman, and didn't respond to their calls, the neighbors went to check on them. They discovered the main door open because it wasn't locked from the inside. They were astonished to see nine family members arranged in a circle hanging from an iron grill on the roof as they made their way upward. Their mother was sleeping on the floor in the other room, next to her bed, and the tenth member, a woman, was hanging directly across from them. The family members had hung themselves while being shackled, with their hands and feet also bound. The lone member of the family who was still alive was chained to the roof and was reportedly barking nonstop. The same home housed three generations at once. The group's members were all well-educated and sociable individuals. Many claims that the murder was not coincidental it was a preplanned suicide, that too ritualistic and blind faith on the ancestral belief. The biggest puzzle in the entire narrative is the number 11. The number 11 marks the conclusion of the entire narrative. Even the forensic expert stated that there were only 11 widows and 11 pipes in the entire home, and more significantly, that 11 persons died simultaneously and that 11 diaries had been kept even after the family head's death had occurred 11 years before.

This forensic science report presents an examination of evidence related to the case mentioned above. The investigation aims to provide a clear understanding of the circumstances and findings surrounding this case.

Examination and Instruments used in the investigation.

The examination was conducted using a combination of well-established forensic methods by CFSL DELHI, which is under CBI. and specialized instruments:

1. Fingerprint Analysis Cyclone Fingerprint Brush and Specialist DNA Free Sterile Fiber Brush were used, with the fluorescent and normal magnetic powders, of different colors to find out the latent fingerprints. RED, ORANGE, GREEN, YELLOW powders were used.

2. PHYSICAL EVIDENCE ANALYSIS: The police got the 11 diaries, which basically had every information about the series of deaths.

3. DNA Analysis: Biological samples hair samples, Sweat, blood and the saliva of the victims were collected, and DNA analysis was performed using PCR and electrophoresis techniques.

4. Toxicology Analysis: Toxicological analysis was carried out on relevant samples like all the medicines of the old lady and the whole family what they used to take on a regular basis, using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS).

5. QUESTIONED DOCUMENT: It includes the survey of the 11 diaries, which had many secret information about the Burari’s. It is truly believed that the full story and the death case is connected to that diary only.

6. CYBER SECURITY ANALYSIS: It includes the checking and surveys off all the internet connects, and the mobile phone connections of the full family, that helped in finding the Call list and surfed websites.

  RESULTS

The examination of the evidence has yielded the following results:

1.      Fingerprint Analysis: It clears that the people hanging were all of the same family, they all were related by blood, and the relationships were real and true. The old lady was the only one with the struggle marks and she was the only one who has given blood as the evidence.  [Dr. Asha Srivastava].

2.      Physical evidence analysis: It was clear with that diary that everything Lalit used to do was all what his death father used to tell him or instruct him with a planchet. Handwriting experts confirm it was his older brother’s daughter who wrote the complete diary.

3.      DNA Analysis: DNA samples obtained from the crime scene, from the 11 victims, do matched with the DNA fingerprinting found in the stools which they used for hanging. [ The complete 11 family members] in a statistically significant manner.

4.      Toxicology Analysis: The toxicology report indicates the presence of a controlled substance in Narayani Devi’s Stomach, that proofs the incident occurred after night, because she used to take the medicine before dinner.

5. QUESTIONED DOCUMENT: The handwriting expert conveyed that it was the handwriting of three different person, which gave the clue about the case. VSC and EDSA instrument were used for the documentation.

6. CYBER SECURITY ANALYSIS: It includes the checking and surveys off all the internet connections, which gave the investigators an idea about their activities and religious beliefs.

     CONCLUSION

Based on the examination and analysis of the evidence, it is the opinion of the forensic examiner that there is significant evidence linking [LALIT] to the crime. The fingerprint, physical, and DNA evidence, along with the toxicology report, strongly suggest their involvement in the case. Lalit is believed to have masterminded to the incident, but unluckily he was no more there for the interrogation.

     OPINION AND RECOMENDATIONS

It is recommended that [Late LALIT] the case is further investigated and prosecuted for their alleged involvement in the case. Additionally, the collection and preservation of additional evidence should be pursued to strengthen the case. Probably we have lost the criminal, but there is time to give justice to the rest 10 people of the family.
