Document forgery investigation is a major branch in forensic questioned document examination. Questionable document analysis is encompassed with a wide area of identifying alterations or obliterations in bank cheques, bills and all the forgeries in any handwritten documents. The role of a forensic document examiner is to unveil the hidden elements present in a document. The forensic analysis of ink can answer a wide range of questions involving forgeries, insurance claims, suicidal and threatening notes, contracts and wills, a blank sheet possessing some indentations, etc. Hence, forensic document examiners were always bringing into play since they can ascertain the actual origin of ink on a particular document. Ink analysis is of important consideration in examining questioned documents since the validity and authenticity of various documents can be determined. Based on the composition of individual constituents’ chemical analysis can be done to study the age and source of ink and thus providing leads and clues for further investigation. For identifying the particular ink belongs to a writing, the physical and chemical properties of the ink should be known priorly.
